Introduction
If you've noticed that your strategy is no longer on the leaderboard or if there are fewer strategies displayed, several factors could be influencing this. This article will outline the reasons why strategies may be removed and what you can do if your strategy is no longer visible.
1. Continuous Updates to Titan Versions
With Titan, whether it's Titan X or Titan AC, we continuously develop new versions to improve performance and add features. These updates may include:
- New Features: Updates like strategy randomizers or changes in how Equity Protections (EPs) are calculated.
- New Strategy Versions: As new versions of Titan are released, strategies optimized for older versions are removed to avoid confusion on the leaderboard.
For example, if strategies designed for an older version of Titan remain alongside those for the latest version, it can create a cluttered and confusing leaderboard. To maintain clarity, older strategies are removed once new versions are available.
2. Bug Fixes and Version Updates
At times, specific versions of Titan may have bugs that affect performance. When these bugs are fixed in a newer version, the older strategies are often removed.
Example:
A bug in Titan X 22.85 led to the removal of many strategies associated with that version once the bug was fixed in Titan X 22.95. As a result, the leaderboard now showcases strategies running on the latest, bug-free version.
3. Adapting to Platform Rules and Regulations
Prop trading platforms frequently update their rules, particularly around risk management. As a result, some previously popular strategies may no longer comply with updated platform guidelines.
- Old Strategies: Older strategies may have aimed for aggressive gains, risking large amounts in single trades (e.g., risking $4,000 to gain $6,000 in one trade).
- New Strategies: Recent updates have shifted strategies towards more conservative risk management, aiming to make or lose around 2% (or $2,000) per day. These changes help avoid violations of new platform rules and ensure a safer trading experience.
Our commitment is to stay at the forefront of these changes, updating our strategies accordingly to reduce the risk of running into problems with prop firms.
4. Continuous Introduction of New Strategies
New strategies are created and added to the leaderboard on a weekly basis. As a result, the leaderboard has a limited capacity and can only display a certain number of strategies at a time. When new strategies are uploaded, older ones are often replaced.
Key Points:
- This rotation does not mean that the replaced strategies are ineffective.
- Older strategies can still be used and may perform well even if they are no longer visible on the leaderboard.
5. How to Backtest Your Strategy if It’s No Longer on the Leaderboard
If your strategy is no longer on the leaderboard but is still installed on your VPS, you can use the MetaTrader Platform (MTP) to backtest it and review its performance.
Steps to Backtest:
- Download the MTP: Go to the leaderboard, click on “Download,” and select MTP.
- Select Your Broker and EA Settings: Choose the broker you are using (e.g., Fxify, E8) and the EA version corresponding to your strategy (e.g., 23.04).
- Backtest Over a One-Year Period: Set your backtest period to at least one year to evaluate the strategy’s performance accurately.
Backtesting with MTP allows you to see the strategy’s pass rate, average days, EPs, recency score, and more.
Conclusion
If your strategy is missing from the leaderboard, it’s likely due to ongoing updates, platform rule changes, or the continuous introduction of new strategies. However, this does not necessarily indicate that your strategy is obsolete or ineffective. You can always backtest your strategy using MTP to see its current performance metrics.
