Introduction

This article provides a detailed guide on how to navigate and use the strategy leaderboard to find the best strategies for your prop firm challenges. If you’re new to the platform, this overview will help you understand each section of the leaderboard and how to interpret the data effectively.

1. Accessing the Leaderboard

To view the full leaderboard, ensure you are logged into your BEF account by clicking the login button at the top right. Without logging in, you may only see the top 10 strategies, so logging in is essential for full access.

2. Understanding the Different Leaderboards

The leaderboard is divided into six different sections, each corresponding to a specific prop firm:

  • The 5%ers

  • Fxify
  • E8
  • FTMO
  • Alpari: For All Other Prop Firms

It's important to use a strategy that matches the prop firm you're trading with. Although more advanced users may experiment with strategies across different prop firms, beginners should stick to the corresponding strategies for their firm.

3. Breakdown of Leaderboard Columns

Here's a detailed explanation of each column you’ll find on the leaderboard:

Rank

  • This column ranks strategies from 1 to 100. It’s important to note that Rank 1 does not necessarily mean it’s the best strategy; it’s simply a placement indicator.

Strategy Name

  • Displays the strategy name, bot version, and creator. Clicking on the strategy name allows you to download the bot version directly.

Symbol and Time Frame

  • Shows the currency symbol and the required time frame to load the bot on the chart.

Submitted On and Backtest Date

  • Indicates the date when the strategy was submitted to the leaderboard and the dates it has been backtested from.

Pass Rate (Overall and 12 Weeks)

  • The Overall Pass Rate shows the strategy’s pass rate from the start date to the end date.
  • The 12-Week Pass Rate shows the pass rate over the most recent 12 weeks.

Average Days (Overall and 12 Weeks)

  • Overall Average Days represents the time it takes on average to pass a challenge over the entire backtest period.
  • 12-Week Average Days shows the average days required over the last 12 weeks.

Average EP Hits

  • This column shows the average number of EP (Equity Protection) hits, or losing trades, before the strategy passes. These hits do not have to occur consecutively.

Recency Score

  • This score reflects how well the strategy has performed recently. A higher score means better recent performance.

Backtest Verified and Forward Test Verified

  • Backtest Verified: Indicates the strategy has been backtested and verified to work as expected.
  • Forward Test Verified: Shows the strategy has been on the leaderboard for 30 days or more and has been verified in live market conditions.

Latest Results

  • Displays the most recent trading outcome for the strategy, including whether it was in profit, drawdown, or passed.

4. Using Strategy Results and Downloads

Results Tab

  • By clicking on the results, you can see detailed performance data for each day since the strategy was backtested, including EP hits, days to pass, and more.

Downloads Page

  • Here, you can select an account size to download the strategy for. You can also adjust settings like max loss and profit targets to match your prop firm’s requirements.

5. How to Select a Strategy

When choosing a strategy, look for the following:

  • High Overall Pass Rate: At least one year of backtested data is recommended.
  • Low to Medium Average Days: This indicates the strategy doesn’t take excessively long to pass.
  • High Recency Score: A score of 250+ shows strong recent performance.

You can sort the leaderboard by these factors to find the best strategy for your needs.

6. Strategy Checklist

Clicking the checklist button provides an overview of the strategy’s settings. This includes key parameters like random delay, trading session times, and risk per trade, allowing you to choose a strategy that matches your trading psychology and preferences.

7. Analyzing Strategy Results in Depth

To fully understand a strategy’s potential, dive into the results tab:

  • EP Hits per Day: Check which days have the lowest EP hits to optimize when to start trading.
  • Passes and Fails: Review the number of passes and fails within the backtested period to gauge the strategy’s reliability.
  • Average Days and EP Hits: See how long it took for strategies to pass historically, which helps set realistic expectations.

8. Key Insights for Strategy Execution

  • Start Days Matter: The day you start the strategy can impact its performance duration. Strategies perform differently based on the day of the week they start.
  • Patience is Key: Some strategies may take weeks to pass. Avoid changing strategies midway through a challenge; give your chosen strategy the time it needs to work.

9. Important Notes for Hedging

If you are hedging, pay close attention to trading session times to ensure your broker and prop firm are open simultaneously. A mismatch in opening times can prevent trades from copying correctly between accounts.

Conclusion

This overview should help you navigate the leaderboard and select the best strategy for your prop firm challenges. By understanding the metrics and using the checklist, you can make informed decisions to improve your trading success.
