My MTP Results Don’t Match The Leaderboard

Introduction

If you're experiencing inconsistent results between backtests on MTP and the leaderboard strategies, there are several factors that could be contributing to this. This guide will walk you through the most common reasons why your backtests may not match the leaderboard results and how to resolve these issues.

1. Titan Version Mismatch

Ensure that you are using the correct version of Titan when backtesting. Strategies on the leaderboard are created using specific Titan versions. For example, a strategy like "Oparu Nuke" might have been created on Titan version 23.04. If you're backtesting using a different version of Titan, the results will likely be inconsistent.

Solution:

  • Confirm the Titan version used for the strategy on the leaderboard.

  • Backtest using the same version (e.g., Titan 23.04) to ensure accuracy.

2. Broker Discrepancy

Each broker on MTP provides different data, which affects how strategies perform. For example, strategies tested on the Alpari broker will yield different results compared to those on E8 or Fxify. This variation is due to the differences in broker data, which is why the leaderboard displays separate results for each broker.

Solution:

  • Always backtest using the same broker or platform as the strategy.
  • If the strategy was created using Alpari, backtest it on Alpari. Similarly, if it was created using E8, backtest on E8.

3. Backtest Date Range

The date range of your backtest plays a significant role in the results. If your backtest does not cover the same time period as the one used on the leaderboard, your results will differ.

For instance, if the strategy on the leaderboard was backtested from June 5, 2023, to September 20, 2024, but you test it from January 1, 2024, to September 20, 2024, you will get different results.

Solution:

  • Match the date range of your backtest to the date range shown on the leaderboard to ensure accurate comparison.

4. When to Contact Support

If you follow these steps and still experience inconsistencies across multiple strategies (e.g., 2–3 strategies), it may indicate a deeper issue. In such cases, it is advisable to contact support so the development team can investigate further.

Solution:

  • Backtest at least 2–3 strategies.
  • If the discrepancies persist, contact support with the details of the strategies and backtests.

However, if this issue occurs with only one strategy, it is generally not a cause for concern.

Conclusion

By ensuring you're using the correct Titan version, broker, and date range, you can significantly reduce the chances of encountering inconsistent backtest results.
